Creating a Hair Regimen

My SL to MBL Relaxed Hair Regimen

8

As I start to rework my current hair regimen, I thought it would be best to document the hair regimen that got me to MBL for those who are still trying to find a regimen that works for them.  I went from Shoulder Length to Mid-back Length in 3 years.  And even though I’m in the middle of revamping the whole thing this regimen gave me consistent hair growth.  It

Empties Report: Part 2!

Man! I knew having my daughter was going to throw a wrench into my blogging (Check her out on my Instagram page: @fancyflairlady), but six weeks — sheesh! Sorry about that.  :/ Well, let me tell you that these past few weeks have been iffy for my hair care routine.  Everyone told me that having a baby around was going to be a time suck, but I really thought I’d

Am I Transitioning?

0

No, I am not transitioning.  But I totally get why people keep checking to see if I am.  I feel like when I first started blogging there was a whole community of relaxed hair bloggers who regularly chatted up about new hair products and hairstyles to try.  But lately the community is mostly gone.  The field has narrowed substantially.  And with every blog that I follow that now focuses on

5 Effective Tactics For Retaining Length On A Relaxer Stretch

5 Effective Tactics For Retaining Length On A Relaxer Stretch

After struggling with retaining length for over two years, I finally saw success thanks to all of your invaluable suggestions.  It really helped to get me in gear and focused on these last two relaxer stretches.  After cutting about three inches in October 2015, I was able to gain it all back (see: last length check). And now I plan to continue implementing what I learned, because it worked.  Even though

Relaxer Update | February 2017

I ended my relaxer stretch at 22 weeks and you already know that I cut my hair.  For this update, I really just want to share my plans for my hair as I continue with these long term stretches.  It feels sort of like a new beginning for me and so I want to take my hair journey back to basics.  I’m at a place where my hair feels good again and

How I Cut My Hair

How I Cut My Hair: The time finally came to cut my hair! I was anxious about losing the length but I was also so happy to no longer have to deal with thinner ends.  I recorded the whole hair cutting experience and I think that I did a pretty good job.  The “How I Cut My Hair” video is above and some more pictures are down below.  (And if you

Removing My Braids & Preparing For Relaxer Day

After six weeks, I was ready to remove my box braids for a full wash day. I loved having these box braids and plan on installing them again in May.  The hair kept up so well.  There was no fraying or frizzing, which I do attribute to the hair that I chose to use (X-pression 100% Kanekalon synthetic hair).  By six weeks the only thing that told you their age was

January Favorites | Hair & Acne Care Edition

It’s the end of the month and the perfect time to run down some of my January favorites.  Some of these favorites won’t surprise you, but some of them are new products.  It’s mostly hair care products (of course) but the last item is a skin care product that literally turned my skin around.  I went from out of control hormonal/pregnancy related breakouts to being almost back to normal.  After 5

My Experience With Box Braids

I’m taking my box braids out next week! And as I make plans for my real hair, I can’t help but reflect on my experience with box braids as a long term protective style.  When I take them out, they will have been in for 6 weeks! And that is definitely the longest protective style I’ve done since starting my hair journey.  I’m looking forward to working with my hair again, but first let

Best Oils for Relaxed Hair | My Picks

If you aren’t at least using hair products that contain some natural oils, I think your hair is really missing out.  Due to the way that chemical relaxers straighten our hair, it has a tendency to be dry and frizzy.  Choosing the right hair products help to ensure our hair is acting its best.  And natural oils target those specific issues.  With regular use, you will notice an increase in the hair

Back on YouTube

New Year, New Me? I don’t know about all of that, but I am back on YouTube.  It’s a part of my new year’s resolution to get back to my regular blogging schedule.  I know most people roll their eyes at the mention of a new year’s resolutions, but I do subscribe to them (even if it is the same thing every year, lol).  I just like the idea of
