Relaxer Update | April 2015

Last week I thought I was 11 weeks post relaxer when I relaxed my hair, but when I looked back at the calendar I realized I was way off.  I actually relaxed my hair at 14 weeks post relaxer, which partially explains why my new growth was so out of control.  I was so focused on the Castor Oil Challenge that I got my relaxer stretch count messed up.  Below

I'm Joining The Castor Oil Challenge!

This post is going to serve as my starting place for the Hairlicious Inc.: Castor Oil Challenge Part 9.  I will be participating at the intermediate level, which requires that I: (1)  apply castor oil to my scalp twice a week followed by a 2-5 minute scalp massage and (2) add one teaspoon of castor oil to my weekly deep conditioner.

Relaxer Prep – I experimented with pre-sectioning the back two sections and it expedited the relaxer application process. (Two Thumbs Up!) When you’re on your relaxer stretch, I think there’s this sweet spot where you are so content with the way that your previously relaxed hair and your new growth are working together.  The sun is shinning, the breeze is blowing and your wash days go by with out a hitch and you begin to think, “Wow, this relax stretch is a breeze.  I think I might wait until [insert some

Relaxer Update: July 2013

Last weekend, I ended my relaxer stretch at 15 weeks.  If you’ve been following along, you know that I was avoiding heat tools for the majority of the that time period.  My initial thoughts, as I was rounding out the end of the challenge, were that I would try to continue to implement no heat wash days into my stretches, but I wasn’t really interested in continuing it as strictly.

How To | Detangle

With 12 weeks of new growth and a 5 day old Bantu Knot Out to deal with, I thought this would be the perfect time to show you all how I detangle my hair.  Check out the steps outlined below and the supplemental video, too!
