Random Thoughts of a Recovering Product Junky…

This product junky-ism is a real thing that is hard to kick.  I’ve been really good about not buying new products for over a year now.  But now I am having a strong urge to try something new.  I’m actually thinking of trying something from Jane Carter.  I’ve never tried their products before and after checking out the ingredients lists I have at least two products in mind.  …I know what you’re thinking, this is going against my mission to get rid of the extra hair products in my hair stash.  I know, shame on me.  But in light of that, I’m welcoming any motivation you have to offer to keep me on my “no-buy.”  I am also taking recommendations on any and all new hair products that I should look into giving a try. 🙂 Don’t judge me, lol.
Do you ever go back and forth about buying new hair products?  How does it end for you?

  1. If you don't buy anything now, you'll probably have a bit more money and greater incentive to enjoy future sales.

In the mean while, I have to admit, Giovanni's Avocado and Olive Oil conditioner makes my hair feel like butter, just finished my 2nd tube last weekend.

  2. Oh Kim I wish I could help, but I am a full-fledged product junkie lol. If it helps, I would say only buy if either of those products will serve as a possible replacement of something in your current stash (hopefully something that you are running low on).

  3. It's so hard to curb the new product junkie in me but it's the only way to know what my hair likes/dislikes. I usually wait for the sales or buy in travel sizes to sample new products. Heard the Giovanni Avocado and Oil conditioner and the leave-in conditioner is good. I am also keeping a close watch on the new ORS Monoi Oil leave-in conditioner as well as TGIN line that will hit Target on March 1st.

Sorry I couldn't be of any help. I'll probably be trying the Jane Carter line too when it's on sale :-).

  4. I am always so bad at timing my purchases with sales. I either just miss it or buy something right before it goes on sale. I need to be better about watching out for that. …Giovanni's another line, I've never tried. Thank you for the suggestion, BrownBlossem!

  5. Thanks, Harlem. I will try to follow that. Hopefully it will keep me in line. I don't want to O.D.

  6. See Karen, you have a good reason for your PJism. Me on the other hand, what's my excuse? lol. I just get bored every once in a while and want to see what's out there that could work for my hair. I like your suggestions. I've never heard of TGIN. I need to look into that one. Thank you for your suggestions, you were a great help! 🙂

  7. I go back and forth all the time. Since I'm fully natural I don't fight the urge anymore. I'm trying to find what works for my hair so I use that as a "reason" to try new products.

  8. Hi my name is Sam and am a product junkie..and guess what..I don't feel bad about it either. I approach PJ-ism as a necessary evil of a HHJ. Sort of like Collateral damage if you will. If am not buying and trying new products then am not having fun. Ha ha ha.

  9. LOL, Sam I am secretly with you on this. I want to fight it, but it makes being on a hair journey so much more fun.

  10. I also have PJ tendancies. Maybe you can swap products with a friend on a hair journey. That way you can try something new without buying anything.

  11. As long as we don't take the mortgage/rent/light bill money etc. to buy products! At this point we need rehab. lol

  12. That's a great idea. I need to raid their stashes. Thanks, Don't Touch The Hair.

  13. I was just wondering about Carol's Daughter Monoi line. Have you tried it? I am having problems with thinning and shedding and was thinking about trying this out.
