Grow With Me::. | Weeks 5 – 8

I’ve made it to ten weeks on this No Heat Challenge.  I’m so proud of myself.  I shared with you guys my regimen for the the first 4 weeks in my last update and here is where I am up to now.  I made a video documenting this process for weeks 5 through 8 on this challenge, which you can find below.

It’s been 12 weeks since my relaxer and for the last 10 of them, I didn’t use any heat (Yay Me!).  I wore buns almost the entire time with the exception of my attempt at a bantu knot out at 8 weeks post relaxer.  It was a successful bantu knot out (i.e. I could wear it outside, but it wasn’t to my personal liking).  I plan to try again this week, which will take me to 11 weeks on this no heat challenge.  For now I intend to relax my hair the weekend of July 5th at 14 week post relaxer.

(See Video Above For How I created this style)

Week 8 – Buns (10 weeks post relaxer)

Pre-Shampoo: Suave Sleek Conditioner
Shampoo: Organic Root Stimulator Creamy Aloe Shampoo
Deep Conditioner: L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm
Leave In Treatment: Roux Treatment And Shine 619

You’ll notice that my regimen is pretty much the same for every week and this week’s wash day will mimic what you’ve seen so far.  …I think I’ve found my grove.  One thing that I have noticed is that I haven’t done a protein treatment at all for this entire stretch, so next week (after my next bantu knot out) I’ll be doing a protein treatment to prepare my hair for my next relaxer.

  1. Congrats on your no heat challenge! How do you like L'Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm?

  2. Your bantu knot results are so cute! I love how defined the curls are. I've definitely bookmarked the vid because bantu knots are still on my HHJ bucket list.

    P.S. Between the GVP Conditioning Balm and the GVP Moisturizing Conditioner, which do find is more moisturizing? I have GVP Conditioning Balm but I'm considering picking up GVP MC it packs more of a moisturizing punch.

  3. Thanks, Tomes. I like the L'Oreal Balm a lot. It had my air dried hair feeling so soft. I give it a thumbs up.

  4. Thanks, Jeni! The Conditioning Balm gives me good after heat results. But I feel like the Moisturizing Conditioner more. It is more moisturizing right after rinsing it and it leaves my air dried hair feeling a lot more moisturized, softer and smoother than the Conditioning Balm. I actually ended up putting the Conditioning Balm aside while I'm on this No Heat stint. Thumbs Up for the GVP Moisturizing Conditioner!
