My Relaxed Hair, Roller Setting

Practice Makes (Almost) Perfect: Roller Sets

I was looking at some of my older hair pictures and came across some of my older roller sets.  I noticed a healthy difference in the length (as well as the execution, lol) of my sets. Yay for progress!  Check them out:

August 2009 – My first roller set after starting my hair journey:

I didn’t have any shots of how this set actually turned out, lol.

January 2012:

And My Roller Set From this Weekend:

In July 2011 I used:
Shampoo: Nexxus Therappe
Protein Treatment: Aphogee 2 minute Keratin Reconstructor
Deep Conditioner: Nexxus Humectress
Leave-in: GVP The Conditioner

In January 2012 I used:
Shampoo: Nexxus Therappe
Deep Conditioner: Nexxus Humectress
Leave-in: Roux Fermodyl 619 Extra Strength
Leave-in/Heat Protecter: Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer

Yesterday I used:
Pre-Poo: Proclaim Natural 7 Oil
Shampoo: Mizani Phormula 7 Chelating & Neutralizing Shampoo
Instant Conditioner: Roux Porosity Control
DC: Nexxus Humectress
Leave-in: GVP The Conditioner
Leave-in/Heat Protector: Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea Restructurizer

Regimen Testing Update: I used this regimen for the second time and I am absolutely in love with how my hair comes out with this combination of ingredients.  My hair “smooths” so nicely as I set my hair with the rollers and once it is dry my hair is just as smooth and extremely soft.  It doesn’t have major shine but it’s definitely not dull anymore.

  1. You've really improved a lot and I'm glad the wash day was a success. Your hair looks amazing. I'm still trying to rollerset to perfection but I'm far from that. Just as I've been advice baby steps will get me there.

  2. Oh no! I hate when I can't find a product when I need it. A couple weeks ago I made a quick run to Sally's Beauty Supply store with wet hair because I was missing something, lol.

  3. wow, great results!
i tried to rollerset twice but each time the outcome was a fail.
since then i only do ponytail rollersets, but your results makes me want to give it another try.

  4. Thanks, Bebe H. 🙂

And I know the feeling; it takes time getting the skill of rollersetting down and after I got that together I had to figure the right combination of products before I got it together. This healthy Hair thing is not a game, lol. But good luck to you on your future rollerset, one thing is certain — you WILL get better with practice!
