Protective Styling: A Fun Bun

Last week, I found a picture tutorial of this fun and cute protective style.  Above is a picture of my first attempt.  Now I realized that I should have made the french braid/bun go a little higher up, so that the braid detail would stand out more.  But based on how it came out, it’s a definite keeper.  In the front I did a side part and that was it.  Check out the picture tutorial from The Beauty Department below:

  1. That was kind of how I reacted when I saw the picture tutorial too. 🙂

  2. Yeah, I've worn it twice since this post. It's really different.

  3. hi, as winter is here, i was thinking of getting braid extensions as my protective style. how long do you think i should keep the braids before taking them down? and what are your tips and advice?

  4. I haven't had braids since starting my hair journey. But back when I did have braids I wore them for 4 to 6 weeks. But I don't know how appropriate that is for the hair health. Courtnea from finally growing just had braids and is probably better suited to give you tips. I would just say to watch your edges and nape because that's the most fragile sections of your hair. And the braids will wear on those sections first. Good luck! Come back and let me know what you decide/how it goes for you.

  5. i want to try this style , i love it, i might try this also with curls in the front instead of a bun mmmmh ;-]
