Quick Tip: Shampooing Hair

Here’s a quick tip to get you to your longer lengths.
Don’t pile your hair on top of your head when you wash your hair, like this:

If you do, you are asking for a knotted mess that will lead you down the path to unnecessary breakage* as you struggle to detangle it.

When shampooing your hair I would suggest:

  1. Messaging your scalp with shampoo while leaving the length of your hair hanging down.
  2. Then simply let the lather run down the length of your hair.
  3. And Don’t flip your hair upside down in the sink to shampoo it.  Instead shampoo in the shower, unless you’ve got a salon sink where you can have your hair hanging down in its neutral position

*Remember Breakage = thinner hair/ends.

  1. i was doing everything you said NOT to do. Wow. I had no idea. I think tangles after washes have contributed to my thin hair. Thanks for the post!

  2. No problem. When you try it, you'll notice it's a lot easier to detangle your hair.
